skolbeats review ( Brazil's biggest party)

SKOLBEATS 2005 – by Fepa

The biggest electronic music festival in Latin America happened last April and the planetdnb team was there to cover it. This year festival had 3 tents, an outdoor stage and a “Trio-Elétrico” (a mobile sound system).

More than 55.000 people was there to see djs and live PAs like Sasha, Anthony Rother, Milo, Faithless, Pete Tong, Hernan Cattaneo and many more.

As always, the biggest tent was the MOVEMENT one.

Chris DB, from Fortalez, opened the party. He made a great set with some nice mixes.

The next one was the best Brazilian producer, XRS. He dropped only wicked tunes and some Brazilian dubplates like Index & Bungle – Solitary and some off his own productions like The fly and Backspin.

The first international dj to play was High Contrast. His set was full of a Hospital’s tunes and other liquid funk vibes.

Dj Aki from Japan was the next one. He made an energetic set and the crowd liked.

The “smile man” Patife played next and drove the crowd to the madness. Mixing classics with dubplates full of swing he putted everybody to dance. Brazilian people really love him. He was backed by Cleveland Watkis, Fats and the almost Brazilian Stamina MC.

The greatest name and best set of the night was the next: Dj Zinc. And what a set!!! He started with “Tarantula” and dropped lots of dubplates. After one hour he started to play with 3 deck!!! It was unforgettable.

The “tornado from São Paulo” was the next. Marky made a heavy set full of amazing mixes and scratches. As usual a sweat rain started in Movement tent. Dynamite MC was there too.

Friction played after Marky and made a real good job. The sound system failed sometimes but he continues to play. Big up to him!
Koloral, one of the pioneers of DNB in Brazil kept the vibe until morning.

The last one was the amazing Dj Andy, one of the best DNB djs in the world. As usual he made an unbeliveble set. He dropped jungles, tech-steps, darks and neuro funks.
I can’t wait to next year
