Hospitality Brighton, Audio, 29th April 2006

It had been a long time coming, but it was here…Hospital Records gracing Brighton at Audio!  The line up was looking heavy, with Fabio headlining.  Cyantific, Callous, Part Time Heroes, Akademic and Sciphi were also booked with Rage, Wrec and Stapleton MC controlling the mic.

We arrived at Audio around 10.30pm, being among the first people there.  The night was being warmed up nicely by Part Time Heroes and Akademic, playing chilled out soulful breaks.  By 11pm the venue was getting quite busy, and I was happy to hear the sounds of a drum and bass intro! Callous had stepped up dropping ‘Stages’ (Commix Remix), a lovely, deep soulful tune.  By 11.30 the venue was rammed, it looked set to be a good night.  Callous played some dubby style tracks, with MC ID supporting on the mic… The vibe was right!

Fabio was up at 12, the moment I had been waiting for…He tore down the place with tunes including ‘Rotation’ by Marky and XRS, ‘It’s a Jazz Thing’ Remix and a whole lot of other rollers.  MC Rage was on the mic, hyping it up, the venue was rocking.

By 1.30 I was feeling slightly messy as Cyantific jumped up for his set.  The tunes were going down well with the crowd.  I remember hearing the ‘Dirty Harry’ Remix and a number of Cyantific’s own tunes including ‘Ghetto Blaster’ and ‘Flashback’.  Cyantific’s set had more of a jump-up/dancefloor vibe than the others, I’m personally not such a fan of this style so didn’t rate the set as highly as Fabio and Callous, but the rest of the venue were having a great time.

By 2.30 I needed to leave, I was starting to feel the effects of a few too many Tuacas, and wasn’t really feeling Cyantific’s set by now.

In my opinion, the set of the night had to be Fabio, he is a major influence for me and I find he has a great presence when he is mixing.  Although not forgetting Callous as he had the place jumping.  All in all another wicked night, with a great atmosphere…When’s the next one!?
