Interview with Sensa Re:Voltage Recordings, Unit E Veteran
Ez Sense hows it been bruv?
Sensa: All Good mate safe
What’s been a gwaan a recent days?
Sensa: A lot mate things have been heating up an getting more hectic defiantly.
I’ve got a lot of collaborations in the works at the minute
and also been doing my shows and looking for material to sign to the label
What’s the crack wiv the collabs then?
Sensa: First of I’m doing some mad new bizness wiv a Jamaican Rapper Mc Sacrifice
who’s working in Los Angeles at the moment, we’re looking at working on a album at the minute
could be like a 13 piece thing but we just looking at getting some tunes down so people get a feel for the ideas.
You can check out cocaine on my myspace, www.myspace.com/sensa2006 that’s going to be released
in the states by S&S Music group so check it out if you’re from the UK as it won’t be hitting your endz…
How did the collab with sacrifice come about then?
Sensa: Basically he hit me up on myspace! To cut a story short he was saying he was up for chattin
on some tracks an giving it a go on the dnb tip for a change, the funny thing is he had heard spunk rag
which is still up there if u wanna check it out. An that was what had inspired him! If u heard spunk rag
it’s a dark tune man defiantly gunna be something different coming from a hip-hop background like.
If you also wanna hear some of Sacrifice’s stuff just look through my myspace
at my top friends an he’s on there - myspace.com/sensa2006
Yeh Big up the myspace! Nuff blud! So any releases coming up?
Sensa: Yeh I got a remix of my Spiderman tune that’s been done by Dub Alley
dropping on Logan D’s Lowdown Deep recordings in early 2007
so look out for it! It’s a dark dancefloor rinse out!
So what’s happening with your own label at the minute?
Sensa: We’re talking with Nero for a track that we would be putting out on the Re:voltage label
Me and E.S.P are working on a lot of material also which we want to take to a high level of quality.
so it looks like your going to be putting out some big material on the label then!
Is there any more collaborations going on with people in the dnb scene?
Sensa: Yeh man, I’m also collabing with Rawtee from Formation responsible for bringing you tracks
such as "Too much wine" & Nausia. Definatly gunna be something interesting!
Rawtee has done some sick tings! So what about the future of the label where do you see it going?
Sensa: Well what I would really like to develop is a good reputation for getting decent tracks
out to the public an maybe sometimes something a bit different then the average dance floor smasher
on the side also I would like to release on other labels as the time comes
You mentioned your shows, how’s the radio been going?
Sensa: Yeh man it’s been good the show on our own Re:Voltage radio has really been gaining momentum
an now we have more artists on the radio we get more listeners, like some of the other Unit E heads
have been doing live shows as well an we starting to build up a schedule of a varied selection of selectas!
I’m also looking at starting a new thing up on NSUC Radio which would be heavy!!
What’s Unit E?
Sensa: Well it was a lot of things a while ago, but overall it’s really a crew of producers, djs and mcs
collectively working at making their skills better.
so what’s the crew doing now?
Sensa: They was talk of the crew releasing tunes early last year and Unit E being a label
but what happened was Me an ESP was really on that an thought that was something to focus on
so we went and did Re:Voltage but are still involved in Unit E. There is a lot of talent in the Unit
and we are sorting out a webpage so you can check out all of this for your self
but for now If there’s one guy you check out from the Unit make that Dutch producer
Izah he’s on myspace also – www.myspace.com/izahizahizah
Some unsigned dubplate bizell for everyone!
Well thanks for all that man but looks like we’re running outa time
you got anything else to say before we end this?
Sensa: Yeh big ups to everyone an all the people involved an mentioned here!
For more info on my music, the label and our new Remix Competition
where you can get your tune cut to vinyl if you win
