| 29th Dec Skudge Chats to Caspa & Rusko |
 |

How would you describe the music you make / what is dubstep ?
Bass, beats and energy! I cant put it in any other words..... just go to a dubstep night
and your understand and appreciate what it is.
How did Caspa & Rusko Hook up ?
through a dating agency, we fell in love straight away!
How did you get into producing and what were/are your influences ?
Favourite tune you’ve made so far?
Caspa & Rusko - Rock Bottom - thats are fav becuase its way different to what we usually do.
Can you tell us about any material your working on at the minute ?
I have recently completed 'Ave It' Volume 2 for Sub Soldiers thats due for release in Feburay 2008
other than that I have not had much time to write stuff. Im doing things on my laptop in between gigs
when traveling. Just finished 4 new tunes whilst traveling around Australia - Got this new tune
called 'Lions Raw' which is pretty messed up! watch out for that!
How has dubstep taken off around the world? / favourite places to play?
Its been an amazing year for the growth of the scene. Its like a Virus its just spreading and spreading
and there are nights happening everywhere. I have played in USA, Israel, Hungary,Finland, Denmark
Belgium,Australia, New Zealand and all over the UK.
My favorite places - dam thats hard there are so many!
LA, Israel and Sydney were fat!
Whats on your mp3 player/Ipod at the moment ?
I dont really even use my ipod. when I do its usually new tunes from the artists
or demos people send me.
What other musical flavours do you listen to ?
Anything and everything really, love me DnB though, just listening to the DJ HYPE
Drum and bass arena CD as im writing this - BAD BWOY!
Labels/ Artists to watch out for ?
Dub Police is really going to be pushing a whole bunch of new artists in 2008! I like what Mala (dmz)
is doing with Deep Medi, wicked stuff! Arists to watch out for:
The Others, Orien, Unitz, Dubwoofa, Matty G
What are your thoughts on the digital scene , i.e mp3's , filesharing , effect
on the music industry as a whole ?
Its effected sales big time and been part responsible for the closure of many independent
record stores which is a shame. I hate it personally and but also understand there is a market for it
a market for people who dont DJ etc...
For me i like being able to hold a CD or Vinyl with the nice artwork, read the inserts and info
How do you see dubstep in say five years time ?
honestly dont know - look how far its come in 1 year let alone 5???!!
Any shouts ?
Big up the whole Dub Police, Sub Soldiers and Storming Camp.
also shout out to all those who have been supporting this year!
Big it!
Shout to all the Fabric Crew!
“The Fabric mix is pretty relentless. It’s a full on, current mix of tracks that we felt have smashed the dancefloors
over the last few months. If you listen to our sets you can tell we’re party DJs. We take an influence in our
mixing style from the drum & bass heads, leaning towards a jump up style with quick mixes, plenty of
heavy basslines and chopping and cutting. But we didn’t just want to go for the “power hour” option
of an absolute rinse out all the way through! We wanted to include deeper moments
to give the whole mix more impact.” – Caspa & Rusko
