Snares & Bass / The Slider - DJ Alibi / Dungeon Beats
Awesome tune both sides smashing it. Snares & Bass is what system check should have sounded like. The Slider (AA) is simply the best Jump up tune I have heard in 2007.

Big up to the Coologik Records crew this ones a smasher. Watchin the label for the next release.

"Mr. Mingus"/"Make 'em Bleed" - DJ Vapour
This tune was first brought to my attention by the one Mr. Fabio at Swerve, back in March. After a set of standardly deep and funky rollers, there was time for one more. "Mr. Mingus" was it.

There are a couple different reasons why this tune is important. First off, it's just fucking heavy and sounds great on a big rig. Secondly, it seems like, no, there IS less experimentation in drum and bass and willingness to try something "different" than ever before. And when someone like Hype on his Kiss show, and practically every other big name in the game is singing its praises, if nothing else, hopefully this says to all the producers out there, young and old, "go ahead, try something new and creative."

As to how new sampling 2.5 jazz chords and throwing down some swingin' live drums is, I'm not really sure....drum and bass is funny like that. But without going any further and unnecessarily raining on any parades, let's just say "Mr. Mingus" is in fact one of the best tunes to come around in a bit. Certainly worthy of the front of your box.
