25th Aug - Innovation In The Sun 2007

    Innovation In The Sun 2007

We arrived at Gerona Airport with no problems and boarded the coach and set off on
our journey to Lloret de Mar. The journey was full of anticipation, we were all raring
to get  on with the partying.

About 10 pm we set off for Club Colossus ,where we met a healthy queue of eager ravers.
Entrance to the club took a bit longer than we thought , but we didn’t let that get to us as we
were about to engage in a mad few day of raving and sun.

We made our way into the arena DJ Garry K was applying the aural assault.
The crowd were lapping up the atmosphere. I don’t remember to much about
the evening after this as indulged in to much alcohol during our journey
(tut tut i hear you say).

Next day was a lazy day for the crew as we sat around the pool for most of the day
nursing our hangovers. Later in the evening we head back down to  Club Colossus for the
next phase of  the program. After a quick  and polite search by security we go straight to
the bar where we listen to the start of S.M.O.K.E. They played out a heavy tech step laden
set which was a great start to the night.

Next up onto the stage was DJ Hazard , after 5 minutes i lost the rest of the people who were
with me as I made my way to the front of the arena. Hazard played a wicked set  full of dubs,
a few of his own tracks like Busted and Drunken style. He also played a lot of  stuff which I
Couldn’t name, but in true Hazard style got the place jumping.

TC was meant to be pon’ the turntables next, but was late arriving at the venue.
But taking his place was the great Andy C !!! As the first tuned drop the atmosphere was full of
anticipation. A new intro from the last time we heard him play , couldn't place an ID on this.
His set was mainly an old style set, which was little strange we thought as the night was
advertised as "a night of fresh unreleased tunes ". He ended his set with label mate Shimon's
remix of Screamer , which the crowd went totally mental to.

Up next was TC with his usual jump up party vibe, not a bad set IMO!
I think Grooverider was next as my head started getting blurry form the usual additives.

During the day on Friday we talked of the night ahead, the line-up for the dance ahead
was massive! Which included Hype, Friction, Dillinja, DJ Die, Noisia and Sub-terra.

Dj Hype was the star of the evening for me, as he played a set which got the place jumping.
Inside the arena i had a look around and no-one was standing still, the place was going mad.
Dj Friction was up next , but to my amazement the floor cleared out. I think this was due to
Mr Hype inflicting  some serious dance floor damage lol.

Dillinja was due to take to the turntables next but missed his flight .

Saturday was a goodnight  all in with Innovations Ollie warming up the slightly lower crowd.
Peeps nowadays have no stamina lol. 1Xtra's  DJ Flight  was on next, spinning fresher
than fresh tunes. This evening was all about deeper beats.

Marcus Intalex was on also on cue with his tune selection, he was accompanied on
the mic by Bassman & Moose. Who i thought hosted this set well

Sunday was a no go for me as i got a case of  stomach cramps, but i was informed of the
nights proceedings from the crew on their return from the dance. Goldie, G-Dub,
Mampi Swift and Ed Rush all played blinding sets.

I totally enjoyed my trip to the sun, I only had a few grumbles, mainly to do with price of
water in the club (five euros a bottle).  heard a few stories of some bad  manz robbing people
inside the club, but didn’t witness this myself. But idiots will be idiots, always will be.

Big ups  the Innovation Crew  for the weekends entertainments !
